Profile:
My mother Araceli Sanchez Soto de Canedo, is a graduate of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. My father is a member of the World Karate Federation Technical Committee. My baby sister Luara Samantha is about to embark her higher education career towards a medical career. I am the radical dreamer and obsessive optimist in the bunch that strongly believes that the troublemaker learns a lot more than the scared one. Someday I will be a professor in ethnic studies and higher education policy, documentary film maker, loving husband, and amazing father of 8 children! Best Piece of Advice: You are the dreams of your ancestors. Live a life that will honor their lives and ensure that future generations will have better ones. |
Why LUL:
It was the only all male space that focused on learning my story for the sake of growth and development. It offered me a home where I would be challenged, questioned, motivated, and supported unconditionally. It burst the Berkeley bubble and grounded me on a world view. Biggest Challenge: Un-learning previous problematic and oppressive values and cultures of machismo. Re-learing how to be better men of color via learning and sharing these new knowledges. Biggest Benefits: Having men that I feel safe with, I can trust, and that reciprocate love. It is an indescribable feeling to know that my children will be raised in an incredible large family! After Graduation: I will be working for one year in k-graduate school pipeline work, then, I will be applying to PhD Programs in Ethnic Studies and Higher Education Policy. Interesting Fact: I love quesadillas with lemon. |
